Festive Season Nutrition: Tips to navigate Christmas and Summer Holidays

As we get closer to Christmas and have festive gatherings and holidays lined up, it can be overwhelming trying to stick to a plan when you are out of routine. BUT it doesn't have to be all or nothing! You can enjoy festivities and still set yourself up for a great start to 2022 by being intentional with your habits!

SET YOURSELF UP FOR SUCCESS - pick one or two habits you know you can stick with and be really intentional about. This could be drinking enough water, getting 7-8 hours of sleep or eating protein at every meal. Consistency here matters.

DON'T LEAVE THE HOUSE HUNGRY - eat something at home before you head out to a function. Eating some protein, veg or fruit will fill you up and likely avoid mindless snacking.

EAT SLOWLY - this will give your brain time to receive the 'i'm full' signal and prevent over eating. Eating slowly helps with enjoyment/ savouring your food as well as helping with digestion!

DRINK WATER - especially on hot days and between alcoholic beverages. This habit will keep you hydrated and help to avoid the hangover.

CELEBRATE WHEN IT COUNTS - there are over 90 meals you eat in a month, so there are plenty of opportunities to nourish your body. Choose to celebrate when it counts and enjoy those few meals / treats guilt free!
